South Park: DVD-Volumes 12-15 (4. Staffel)

Die vierte Staffel von South Park bietet neben dem zu erwartenden Wahnsinn auch einige Veränderungen, die den meisten Stars von gezeichneten Shows nicht gestattet werden. So werden Kyle, Stan, Kenny und Eric tatsächlich in die vierte Klasse versetzt, was die Serie auch gleich mit einem brandneuen High-Tech-Vorspann feiert. Auch ein neuer Schüler, der geistig und körperlich behinderte Timmy, besitzt weitaus mehr Starpotenzial als die sonstigen Nebenfiguren und startet demzufolge auch gleich in seiner ersten Folge eine kurze aber steile Karriere als Sänger der Heavy-Metal-Band "Lords of the Underworld". Gesangseinlagen waren in South Park ja von jeher sehr beliebt, und daran hat sich auch nach dem oscarnominierten Kino-Musical natürlich nichts geändert, wie auch die von Cartman gegründete Boygroup-Sensation "Fingerbang" eindrucksvoll beweist.

Um erfreut festzustellen, dass der Humor der beiden Köpfe von South Park Trey Parker und Matt Stone im Laufe der Zeit alles andere als zahmer geworden ist, bedarf es lediglich einer Sichtung der Episode "Cartman Joins NAMBLA", in der Eric unwissentlich einer Organisation pädophiler Männer beitritt, da ihm seine gleichaltrigen Freunde viel zu kindisch sind und er sich etwas reifere Bekannte wünscht. Wie scheinbar unbekümmert die Serie mit heiklen Themen wie Rassismus oder sexuellem Missbrauch jongliert, mag den unvorbereiteten Zuschauer etwas befremden, doch es lohnt sich durchaus, hin und wieder etwas genauer hinzuschauen. Getreu der Maxime, dass zynischer Humor überhaupt nur auf der Grundlage eines festen Wertesystems fußen kann, finden sich neben all den lustvollen Überschreitungen der politischen Korrektheit nämlich auch durchaus ernst gemeinte Vorschläge, wie man sich selbst und seinen Mitmenschen das Leben etwas erträglicher machen könnte.

Die hier auf vier DVDs versammtelten 17 Episoden entsprechen zu 100 Prozent der englischen Ausgabe und beinhalten demzufolge auch weder jegliche Synchronfassung noch deutsche Untertitel. Da sich der Humor von South Park aber eh nicht adäquat übersetzen lässt, sollte das für wahre Fans leicht zu verschmerzen sein. --Andreas Berger

Vol. 12:
"Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000"
Cartman is sent to juvenile hall and it takes time for him to get used to life on the inside. Stan, Kyle and Kenny miss Cartman's biggest asset, his weight, in a contest with the girls.

"The Tooth Fairy's Tats 2000"
Cartman impersonates the Tooth Fairy an the boys build a thriving business by acquiring teeth from less fortunate children. All is well until they meet the competition.

"Quintuplets 2000"
When the boys got to the Cirque de Cheville, they fall hard for the Romanian Contorting Quintuplets. But helping the Quints escape their country means a lot more trouble - named Janet Reno - than anyone in South Park bargained for. Meanwhile Kenny goes to Romania to pursue his singing career.

"Timmy! 2000"
South Park Elementary's new student, Timmy, is excused from doing homework when he's misdiagnosed with ADD; so the boys immediately try to get ADD too. Meanwhile Timme becomes the lead singer of a heavy metal band.

"Pip"
Find out more about Pip's past in South Park's recreation of the classic novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. A surprise alternative ending catapults the story into the 21st Century.


Vol. 13:
"Cartman joins Nambla"
Cartman suddenly decides Stan, Kenny und Kyle are too immature to be his friends. When he goes in search of more sophisticated companions, he is thrilled to discover plenty of adult men who want to be friends with 8-year-old boy.

"Cherokee hair tampons"
The only way for Stan to save his best friend's life is to take on a radical health food peddler. Kyle is on his deathbed with a rare kidney disease and his mother is trying to cure him with a variety of natural, holistic remedies. Cartman, meanwhile is the only one who can save Kyle's life - and although he is willing to bargain, his price is high.

"Chef goes Nanners"
Chef fights South Park's racist flag and his trouble convincing the Mayor of his grievances. The children hold a debate and Cartman and Wendy find some common ground.

"Something you can do with your finger"
In the spirit of the boy band craze the kids get in on the action. While Cartman is booking their first gig everyone in town is lining up to audition for a spot as the 5th band member.


Vol. 14:
"Do the handicapped go to hell?"
When Priest Maxi tells the town that they are going to Hell unless they repent the boys fear for themselves and Timmy. Meanwhile an old flame returns to Hell and makes life difficult for Satan.

"Probably"
Satan is torn between two lovers as he tries to choose between his new boyfriend and his ex. As a last resort he finally looks to a higher power for advice. Meanwhile Cartman has taken the lead role of evangelist as he and the boys try to assure their place in Heaven.

"4th grade"
Fearing their new 4th grade teacher Miss Choksondik the kids build a time machine with Timmy's wheelchair to travel back to ta happier, easier school year. High in the mountains of South Park Mr. Garrison helps his new replacement and finally learns to see who he truly is.

"Trapper keeper"
The kindergarten class vote in a class president and some celebrity voters turn up at South Park Elementary. Meanwhile Cartman's new trapper keeper stirs up trouble and suddenly the fate of the world is in his hands.


Vol. 15:
"Helen Keller, the musical"
The 4th grade Thanksgiving play is in trouble and Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman go to great lengths to make their production a hit. In The midst of all the chaos Timmy finds an unusual new friend.

"Fat camp"
Cartman's friends send him to fat camp to lose weight but he has other ideas. Kenny gets his own TV show by being paid to do gross things and Miss Crabtree becomes famous along the way.

"Wacky Molestation adventure"
The kids take over South Park and all hell breaks loose. It takes some visitors from out of town to make Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman see the error of their ways and restore order.

"A very crappy Christmas"
Mr. Hankey's festive visit is delayed this year because he is all tied up with his new wife and kids. Without Mr. Hankey the town of South Park is in a Christmas slump. The boys are doing everything they can to bring the spirit of Christmas to everyone in town. Thus they are inspired to make a video Christmas card.
