For most of his life, Ken Foy wanted to be a “real” miner like his dad, but it wasn’t until two years ago that he finally got his own ground. This season, Ken is back at Moose Creek – despite nearly going broke last year. He’s learning the hard way that making a go at finding gold on your own is tougher than it looks. But with right-hand man Guillaume at his side again, Ken has high hopes that this season he’ll turn it all around. His goal: beat the Moose Creek curse and leave a rich man. It’s a gamble, but going home broke is not an option. Ken must prove to his wife that investing their entire financial future into the mine was worth it, but Moose Creek will fight him every step of the way.

Karl Knutson was born and raised in Dawson City, and he’s been mining with his dad – highly respected self-made miner Marty Knutson – since he was 13 years old. Last season Karl proved to his father that he can run his own crew and get the gold. This year, Karl is gunning to step out of dad’s shadow and become his own man. Karl and Marty don’t always see eye to eye, but Karl’s out to prove that his way leads to gold even if his more experienced father would do it differently. Karl is after big gold and the respect of his father and community.
