Jäger im ewigen Eis

(Arctic Endurance)
Folgeninhalt

The Inuit hunters of Nunavik in Canada have survived the frozen wilderness for centuries despite competition with wolves and polar bears. In spring, they take advantage of huge seasonal tides to venture under the sea ice in search of vital food gathered from the ocean floor.

  • Hazen Audel looks for shellfish to eat under the frozen sea. As the tide goes out, the sea ice falls. When its at its lowest, it leaves precarious chambers stacked between the ice and the sea floor. Very few people still find food in this way as most people are too scared to get under the sea ice, and for good reason considering that people die finding food like this.
