Spartacus hat mit seinem Kampfgeist bewiesen, dass er würdig ist, als Gladiator ausgebildet zu werden. Allerdings wird er immer noch nicht von den andern Kämpfern akzeptiert. Als er erfährt, wer sein nächster Gegner in der Arena sein wird, versucht er mit allen Mitteln, gegen einen anderen Mann anzutreten, denn es ist sein guter Freund Varro, der ihm in der Schlacht um Leben und Tod gegenübertreten soll.
