In 1982, America's war on drugs is in full swing. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has special agents stationed across the world trying to intercept narcotics and bring down the drug cartels.
Reports from the air reach the men that more insurgents are moving in their direction. The team prepares to evacuate the wounded. But then, another man is shot through the leg. They are now three men down, and Ford is the only soldier left returning fire as the rest of the squad begins to move out.
Charlie Martinez was instrumental in ensuring Rene Benitez was found and brought to justice for attempted murder. In 2001, Benitez was handed a life sentence where he remains serving time today.
One of the few Spanish speakers in the Miami office, Charlie is a valuable asset. With 13 years of experience dealing with South American drug cartels, he's aware of the dangers and requests permission to take firearms. When he is turned down, he knows he'll have to lay extra low.
DEA special agent Charlie Martinez is part of the DEA's elite aviation unit. Based in Miami, he gets a memo that he'll be going to Cartagena, Colombia to help spot the small ships and boats that transport thousands of pounds of drugs from Colombia to the United States.
