Karl?s running Last Chance on his own this year and gunning for 1000 oz but the ground is difficult - instead of following gold channels he?s cleaning up after a massive dredge which has left the gold in hard to predict spots. Karl analyzes dredge maps, tests the ground and wins big but not without being challenged by weather, spotty ground and managing a mine full time. ??(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)
Chris and Nika are hand to mouth miners - they don?t have deep pockets or a back up plan - mining is it - they gotta make it work or they go broke. What keeps this working class family up at night? Do they have enough to pay their bills and feed their babies? Is the gamble worth the cost to their relationship with one another? Will the handwork pay off? Both Nika and Chris believe that hard work is what?ll get them through and that if they just put in the time they?ll have what they need to support their family and then some but it?s this belief should be tested all season long as they run into obstacles and overcome them.??(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)
Big Al McGregor is winner ? straight out of the Alberta old fields, mining was Al?s big dream for retirement and now it?s all he has left. After losing wife Coleen and his battle with cancer - making a go of it as a gold miner in the Yukon is his reason for being. Will Al survive the season? Will he be able to turn the mine and his life around after the last years disastrous mining season, his battle with cancer and the loss of his wife Coleen? By the end of the season Al?s breaking even and back in the mining game. What?s better, health is on an upswing he?s gonna live out the rest of his days as a gold miner in the Yukon. It?s where he?s meant to be. ??(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)
Eric Hinchcliffe at Indian River.???Big? Al McGregor spent most of his life in the Alberta oil fields, but had always dreamed of mining gold in the Yukon. After a successful first season in the Dawson gold fields last year, Big Al is back for more. This Alberta boy is following his life-long dream of being a gold miner and won?t let anything stop him. Al follows the motto ?go big or go home,? so this year he?s back with a larger crew and bigger machines. But all that comes with a higher price tag, so the pressure is on to sluice around the clock. Big Al is the master of his own domain for better and for worse. He means to get what he came for ? gold and lots of it. ??(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)

Bernie Kreft is a prospector turned gold miner back in the Klondike cause prospecting is in the toilet. Bernie been sitting on a gold claim for a few years and this year he thinks he?ll make more money going straight to the source. Bernie?s goal is to mine out Little Blanche with his two sons and their buddy Kyle. With the right direction and his incredible eye for detail it should be like stealing candy from a baby but Bernie?s got a terrible temper and hates inefficiencies. All season long we?ll ask ourselves - Will Bernie make it as a miner this season? Will his perfectionist bent alienate his sons and their friend Kyle aka the only crew willing to work with him? Does the ground have the gold Bernie thinks it does? ??(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)

K & G are the dreamers and business partners - always biting off more than they can chew for a chance to strike it rich. K & G are staking a new claim in Atlin BC this season to exploit longer mining seasons and the chance to start new and do it right. They?re hoping to process more pay for longer and finally win big at the mining game after three years in Moose Creek. A stalled permit delays their start to the season and the birth of Ken?s first child takes him away from the mine just as they get up and running but by the end of season all the struggle reveals they can make big dreams come true ? they?re making Spruce Creek profitable and they?ll be back next season to take all her gold. ??(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)

Marty Knutson at Sulphur Creek.??Karl Knutson was born and raised in Dawson City, and he?s been mining with his dad ? highly respected self-made miner Marty Knutson ? since he was 13 years old. Last season Karl proved to his father that he can run his own crew and get the gold. This year, Karl is gunning to step out of dad?s shadow and become his own man. Karl and Marty don?t always see eye to eye, but Karl?s out to prove that his way leads to gold even if his more experienced father would do it differently. Karl is after big gold and the respect of his father and community. ?(photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)

Dennis Poirier at 10 Mile Creek. Miner and Alberta farm boy, Cam Johnson, loves the thrill of chasing gold. Cam mines on the remote 10 Mile Creek, several hours upriver from Dawson City and only accessible by boat or plane—a huge obstacle when a part breaks or groceries run low. Cam runs two operations on his mine. A dry plant with partner Kevin is Cam’s biggest hope for pulling in a lot of gold. And after two seasons battling machines and poor returns, Cam can’t afford to go home broke again. Cam’s second operation is a wet plant shared with brother-in-law and business partner Dennis. It’s a lean crew searching for fine gold. Running two operations at once means double the problems, and Cam is fighting to keep the mine alive. Family is Cam’s top priority, and he keeps his close. His wife and children help out at the mine in any way possible, from operating machines to gold cleaning to cooking dinner. Mining life is hard, but this family loves it. When the going gets tough, they rely on each other to see it through. (photo credit: Paperny Entertainment)
