Danny est amené à jouer au marchand d'art lorsque son équipe décide de s'attaquer à Meredith Gates, propriétaire d'une galerie. Sans scrupules, égoïste et cupide, Gates est une proie idéale. Fan de l'artiste Piet Mondrian, elle vient de dépenser 250.000 livres pour l'achat d'une de ses toiles. Mondrian est passé de l'art figuratif à l'art abstrait peu de temps après Picasso. Comme Danny l'explique à ses amis, si un Mondrian abstrait était découvert avoir été peint avant les tableaux abstraits de Picasso, cela révolutionnerait le monde de l'art. Et Meredith voudra sûrement l'acquerir à n'importe quel prix. L'équipe contacte Tip Jones, un spécialiste du faux, afin qu'il leur peigne un nouveau Mondrian abstrait, capable de tromper les meilleurs experts, le temps pour nos arnaqueurs de toucher leur magot. Mais Gates est plus astucieuse que prévu.
