However, they later conclude, the aircraft was providing conflicting airspeed information, which caused the crew to mishandle the plane, putting it into a stall from which they were unable to recover.

Investigators know the plane had radiod controllers to report a problem with the landing gear lights in the cockpit, and that the crew had been circling the airport while preparing to land with gear that had the potential to collapse. Investigators reach a stunning conclusion; The Captain failed to notice that the plane was running dangerously low on fuel as he focused his attention on the emergency landing to come.
