DM2008071801:EAED:POLITICS:PERSONALITIES:DEC 1977 - My Plea For Peace - Exiled from her home and children Mama Malyam looks back on 13 years of marriage to Idi Amin, not with complaints for her own loss but with an appeal for her beloved country. Mama Malyam was married to President Amin for 13 years. She bore six of his children, saw him rise to power and accompanied him on state visits. Now she lives in a secret home in Britain, exiled from her homeland and separated from her children. Up to now she has stayed silent. But recently she appealed for the Ugandans to unite to build a new nation. "Our friends , our relatives have died but we are left behind. Let us all try to sit at the same table. We want the truth to be told so that our children can understand. If we can't stand and tell the truth there will be more sorrow." (Photograph by Drum Photographer BAHA )
