Als seine Tochter beim Thailandurlaub von einer Extremistengruppe entführt wird, sieht Ex-CIA-Agent Jake Hopper (Steven Seagal) rot. Von der US-Regierung ist keine Hilfe zu erwarten, also macht sich Jake allein auf den Weg, um das Mädchen zu befreien und mit den Gangstern aufzuräumen. Vor Ort stößt er auf ein weit reichendes Komplott, in das offenbar auch das Militär verwickelt ist. Und seine Gegner scheinen zudem mit übernatürlichen Mächten im Bunde. - Steven Seagal liefert starke Fights unter der Regie von Martial-Arts-Meisterchoreograf Ching Siu-Tung ("House of Flying Daggers).

Hintergrund: Der Film endet mit den Worten "In liebender Erinnerung an unseren Freund Trevor Murray". Der Bühnenbildner starb in den letzten Tagen der Dreharbeiten,die zwischen Februar und März 2003 (genau: 42 Tage lang) in Bangkok stattfanden, eines plötzlichen natürlichen Todes. Regisseur Ching Siu Tung drehte angeblich zunächst viele der Action-Szenen ohne Steven Seagal, um dessen Einsätze zuletzt aufzuzeichnen. Doch Seagal wollte seine Sequenzen schließlich anscheinend auf eine Art gefilmt haben, die nicht zum bestehenden Material gepasst hätten. Ching verließ daraufhin mit seiner Crew das Set und riet Seagal, seine Parts doch selbst zuende zu bringen. Dies rief die Produzenten auf den Plan, die Seagal überzeugten, mit Chings Vorschlägen mitzugehen. Seagal ist Co-Produzent und Co-Autor des Films. Kritik: "Ein sichtlich wohlgenährter Steven Seagal geht back to the roots in einem schnörkellos gedichteten Old-School-Rächerabenteuer vor exotischer Dschungel-Kulisse. Wer von den letzten Seagal-Abenteuern enttäuscht war, darf aufatmen: Humorlos und stoisch wie eh und je bricht der Actionschrank hier einen Knochen und lässt dort einen Fiesling am ausgestreckten Arm verhungern, kaum ein Leerlauf trübt das Getümmel, selbst mit den gefürchteten Predigten hält sich der Buddha des Kickboxens erfreulich zurück."
