Mai reist TELE 5 mit dem herbstblonden Entertainer in dem "D-Movies Spezial: Thomas Gottschalk zum 70sten" zurück in die Zeit und ehrt den TV-Titanen mit seinen schönsten Filmen: Thomas Gottschalk als ostdeutscher Erfinder eines mit Rübensaft angetriebenen Super-Trabbis in der Trashfilm-Hauptrolle seines Lebens in "Trabbi Goes to Hollywood" (15:15 Uhr). Weitere Filme mit Tommy auf TELE 5: "Die Einsteiger" (20:15 Uhr), "Zärtliche Chaoten" (22:20 Uhr) sowie "Mama Mia - Nur keine Panik" (00:15 Uhr).

Hintergrund: Er war das Kultobjekt der DDR - der Trabant. Von 1957 bis 1991 produzierte die "VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau" über 3 Millionen Stück der "rollenden Pappschachtel". Obwohl der Trabbi sowohl für den Aufstieg als auch den Niedergang der DDR-Wirtschaft steht, war er ein Statussymbol. Da es bei der Bestellung immer zu langen Wartezeiten kam, war ein Trabant auch immer eine sichere Geldanlage - noch nach Jahren war der Wiederverkaufswert so hoch wie der Werkspreis. Starinfo Thomas Gottschalk: Er liebt Kino - und macht auch als Schauspieler eine gute Figur: So zählt die vierteilige"Supernasen"-Reihe zu den erfolgreichsten Filmen der 1980er Jahre in Deutschland. Das 1950 in Bamberg geborene Multitalent begeisterte seine Fans auch in weiteren Filmen wie 'Zärtliche Chaoten', "Sister Act 2" und 'Late Show'. 2004 lieh der studierte Lehrer "Garfield" seine Stimme. Privat hat Gottschalk sein Glück längst gefunden - zusammen mit seiner Frau Thea hat er einen leiblichen (Roman) sowie einen adoptieren Sohn (Tristan). Um den Kindern ein möglichst ungestörtes Leben zu ermöglichen, zog er mit seiner Familie bereits Anfang der 1990er nach Kalifornien: "In Amerika kann man alt werden, ohne erwachsen werden zu müssen."
