Eigentlich möchte sich der hünenhafte Beck (Dwayne «The Rock» Johnson), Schuldeneintreiber und Kopfjäger, aus seinem Geschäft zurückziehen und - als leidenschaftlicher Koch - ein Restaurant eröffnen. Doch einen letzten Auftrag ist er seinem Chef noch schuldig; er soll dessen Sohn Travis (Seann William Scott) aus Südamerika heimholen. Der Junior ist im Amazonasgebiet auf der Suche nach einer sagenhaften indianischen Reliquie. Hinter dieser her ist allerdings auch der fiese Minenbesitzer Hatcher (Christopher Walken), der die ganze Gegend terrorisiert. So haben Beck und der von ihm entführte Travis bald Hatchers Killertruppe am Hals, fliehen durch den Dschungel, müssen sich gegen sexbesessene Affen wehren und geraten in die Hände von indianischen Rebellen. Zum Glück gehört auch die attraktive, feurige Barmaid Mariana (Rosario Dawson), welche Travis den Kopf verdreht hat, zu den Aufständischen.

Zu dritt machen sie sich auf die Suche nach der Reliquie. Der Weg dorthin ist voller Gefahren und Abenteuer.

Bereits vor seiner Leinwandkarriere war Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson ein fester Begriff im Wrestling, bevor er 2001 mit dem Abenteuerfilm "Die Mumie kehrt zurück" auch schauspielerisch durchstartete. Es folgten Kinohits wie 'Daddy ohne Plan', "Fast & Furious Five" und 'G.I. Joe - Die Abrechnung'. Im August 2014 wird das Muskelpaket in dem gleichnamigen Action-Abenteuerfilm als Hercules auf der Kinoleinwand zu sehen sein. Seann William Scott wurde vor allem als Partylöwe Stifler aus der 'American Pie'-Trilogie bekannt, aber auch Filme wie "Ein Duke kommt selten allein" und "Ice Age 2-4" machten Scott zu einem gefragten Schauspieler in Hollywood. 2014 wird Scott in der starbesetzten Komödie "Just Before I Go" zu sehen sein.
