Creative Arts Emmys: "Das Damengambit" und "The Mandalorian" bringen Netflix und Disney+ in Führung

Die Gewinner der 73. Primetime Emmy Awards werden aktuell mit insgesamt vier Veranstaltungen enthüllt. In der Nacht zum Sonntag hatte die erste Veranstaltung stattgefunden (TV Wunschliste berichtete), in der Nacht zum Montag zwei weitere (deren Aufteilung vor allem wegen Corona-Bedenken erfolgte). Am kommenden Sonntag steht die große Gala-Veranstaltung an, die dann auch durch TNT Serie im deutschsprachigen Raum übertragen wird (TV Wunschliste berichtete).

Nachdem Netflix bereits bei den Nominierungen mit 129 vorne gelegen hatte, hat der Streaming-Dienst seinen Siegeszug auch bei den jüngsten beiden Veranstaltungen fortgesetzt: 22 weitere Auszeichnungen kamen vergangene Nacht hinzu, so dass man nun vor der Hauptveranstaltung 34 hat.

Die Endabrechnung erfolgt natürlich erst nach der Vergabe der 25 noch ausstehenden Emmys.

Bemerkenswerte Gewinner

In der Vielzahl der Gewinner gibt es immer wieder statistische Auffälligkeiten. Eine davon liefert Maya Rudolph, die als erste Schauspielerin in 20 Jahren gleich in zwei Kategorien jeweils zwei Jahre hintereinander gewinnen konnte: Als Sprecherin bei der Netflix-Comedy  "Big Mouth" ebenso wie als Gast-Moderatorin einer Ausgabe von  "Saturday Night Live" gewann sie 2020 und 2021. Auch Claire Foy schrieb sich in die Emmy-Geschichtsbücher ein: Nachdem sie zuvor als Hauptdarstellerin in  "The Crown" mit der Rolle als Königin Elizabeth II gewann, wurde sie nun für einen "Gastauftritt" in der Rolle mit einem Emmy ausgezeichnet, obwohl die Rolle nach der zweiten Staffel ja an Olivia Colman weitergereicht wurde.

Ebenfalls hervorhebenswert ist Comedian Bo Burnham, der für sein eindrucksvolles, komplett selbst erstelltes Netflix-Comedy-Special  "Bo Burnham: Inside" als Autor, Regisseur und für die Musik Emmys erhielt.

Eine weitere herausragende Leistung ist den Machern der experimentell angehauchten Animations-Anthologie  "Love, Death & Robots" von Netflix gelungen, die bisher in diesem Jahr sechs Emmys einsammeln konnten - davon drei alleine für die Folge "Ice". Nachdem die ebenfalls ungewöhnliche Animationsserie  "Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal" von adult swim bereits im Vorjahr zahlreiche Emmys abstauben konnte, sicherte man sich in diesem Jahr die Kategorie "Outstanding Animated Program" im Wettstreit mit den Größen  "Die Simpsons" und  "South Park".

Starke Einträge waren auch  "The Mandalorian", das beide Stunt-Kategorien eroberte (die Ehrung für die Einzelleistung eines Stunt-Performers wurde in diesem Jahr neu geschaffen),  "RuPaul's Drag Race" im Bereich der Competition Reality-Programme sowie einmal mehr "Saturday Night Live", das - inklusive der Auszeichnung für Rudolph - für seine 46. Staffel schon auf sieben Emmys kommt. Das entspricht auch der gesamten Ausbeute von NBC.
