Creative Arts Emmys - Teil 2: "Game of Thrones" gewinnt mit Nacht-Schlacht

In der Nacht zum Montag gab es in den USA den zweiten von drei Teilen des diesjährigen Emmy-Marathons: Der abschließende Teil der sogenannten Creative Arts Emmys wurde abgehalten. Im Zentrum standen dabei eher die Leistungen in den fiktionalen Formaten, die von den Mitgliedern der jeweiligen Peer Groups der amerikanischen Fernsehakademie Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) bewertet wurden.

Klarer Sieger des Abends ist  "Game of Thrones", das sich zehn weitere Trophäen sicherte - schon zuvor war das Fantasy-Epos die meistprämierte fiktionale Serie der Emmy-Geschichte. Von den neuen Auszeichnungen gingen alleine fünf auf das Konto der bei Zuschauern wegen des dunklen Bildes nicht unumstrittenen Schlachtenfolge "The Long Night" (8x03) - viele davon aber für den Sound. Der neue Vorspann für die finale Staffel, Spezialeffekte, das Stuntteam und die Kostüme erhielten weitere Preise.

Bei den Miniserien konnte die HBO-/Sky-Gemeinschaftsproduktion  "Chernobyl" sich in den technischen Kategorien hervortun, bei den Comedys hatte  "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" ein ums andere Mal die Nase vorne - darunter auch für die Gastdarsteller. Aufgrund einer Besonderheit des Reglements und der Tatsache, dass im Awardszeitraum (1. Juni 2018 bis 31. Mai 2019) keine Staffel von  "The Handmaid's Tale" mit der Mehrheit ihrer Folgen gelaufen war, konnte die Serie nur in ausgewählten Kategorien antreten - und holte beide Gastdarsteller-Emmys.

Nach beiden Zeremonien der Creative Arts Emmys liegt HBO im Rennen um die meisten Trophäen mit 25 vor Netflix, das es auf 23 bringt. Dahinter folgt National Geographic mit acht Auszeichnungen (von denen alleine sieben für den Kletterer-Film  "Free Solo"), genauso viele wie Prime Video. CNN und NBC ( "Saturday Night Live") bringen es auf je fünf Auszeichnungen, CBS, FOX und YouTube haben je vier eingefahren.

Bei den am häufigsten prämierten Formaten liegt "Game of Thrones" mit 10 vor "Chernobyl" und "Free Solo" (je 7), "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" (6 Emmys),  "Love, Death & Robots" (5 Auszeichnungen) und  "Queer Eye" (4 Auszeichnungen).
