Teresa und ihr Ehemann Adam sind auf romantischer Urlaubsfahrt nach Taormina in Sizilien. Dort wollen die beiden ihre Versöhnung bekräftigen. Doch es kommt anders als geplant. Denn ausgerechnet an diesem Ort hat sich Lorenz niedergelassen. Der junge Mann war Teresas nächtlicher Begleiter, als sie an ihrem 50. Geburtstag aus dem Ehealltag ausgebrochen war.

Es dauert nicht lange, bis Teresa und Lorenz einander zufällig begegnen. Adam überrascht die beiden, zieht falsche Schlüsse und möchte den gemeinsamen Urlaub abbrechen. Teresa versucht, unter telefonischer Anleitung ihrer Mutter, ihren Ehemann Adam umzustimmen. Als erfolgreicher Scheidungsanwalt will sich Adam allerdings anders als seine Klienten verhalten und dem jungen Glück nicht im Wege stehen. "Bella Ciao" ist die Fortsetzung von Xaver Schwarzenbergers Komödie "Die Nacht der Nächte".
