Emmys: HBO kann Netflix auf Abstand halten, Achtungserfolge für "Squid Game" und "Arcane"

Mehr als 100 Preise lobt die US-amerikanische Fernsehakademie bei ihren Emmy-Awards jährlich aus - viel zu viele, um an einem Abend feierlich enthüllt und übergeben zu werden. Bereits in der Nacht zum Sonntag und in der Nacht zum Montag wurden daher die meisten Trophäen in den beiden Creative Arts Emmy-Veranstaltungen überreicht - die prestigeträchtigsten Kategorien werden dann in einer Galaveranstaltung in der Nacht zum 13. September verliehen. Warner TV Serie überträgt  "The Emmy Awards" dann auch nach Deutschland (TV Wunschliste berichtete).

Creative Arts Emmys

In den ersten beiden Vergaberunden konnte sich unter den Anbietern das Team HBO/HBO Max mit 25 Auszeichnungen knapp vor Netflix behaupten, das 23 Trophäen mitnahm. Erst mit weitem Abstand dahinter kamen Disney+, NBC und Hulu mit je 6 Trophäen ins Ziel. Alle 5 Emmys, die CBS mitnehmen konnte, entfielen auf das Konzert-Special "Adele: One Night Only". Die gleiche Anzahl an Auszeichnungen konnte die Doku "The Beatles: Get Back" von Regisseur Peter Jackson einstreichen. Auch "Euphoria", "Stranger Things" und "The White Lotus" erhielten bereits fünf Emmys und führen damit die Rangliste der Emmy-Preisträger vorläufig an.

Unter den im Juli mit den meisten Nomininerungen überschütteten Serien (Unsere Übersicht "Emmy-Nominierungen 2022") sticht aktuell noch "Ted Lasso" als diejenige hervor, die nach 20 Nominierungen noch ungekürt darsteht. Einerseits hat die Apple-TV+-Comedy somit schon einige Kategorien (vor allem "Gastdarsteller") nicht gewonnen, andererseits hat bei der Galaveranstaltung in knapp einer Woche noch zahlreiche Chancen. ähnlich sieht es bei "Succession" von HBO aus, das 25 Nominierungen hatte (darunter gleich sieben in den beiden Gastdarsteller-Kategorien), das aber immerhin schon einen Emmy für "Herausragendes Casting" in der Tasche hat.

Hervorzuheben

Für den besten Vorspann wurde "Severance" von Apple TV+ ausgezeichnet. Bei den Comedy-Gastdarstellern wurden Nathan Lane und Laurie Metcalf ausgezeichnet, im Dramabereich Colman Domingo und die "Squid Game"-Darstellerin Lee You-mi. Überhaupt konnte das koreanische Drama sich mit vier Emmys gut behaupten. Auch Netflix' Animationsserie "Arcane" war erfolgreich und erhielt den Emmy als "Outstanding Animated Program" vor  "Rick and Morty" oder  "Die Simpsons".

Der ehemalige US-Präsident Barack Obama erhielt eine Trophäe als Erzähler für die Netflix-Dokumentation "Our Great National Parks", Chadwick Boseman wurde Posthum für seinen Beitrag zur Animationsserie "What if...?" geehrt.

Die drei Stunt-Emmys sind in diesem Jahr an "Barry", "Stranger Things" und "Squid Game" gegangen.
